Kirkus Review

Kirkus Reviews, a book review magazine established in 1933 by Virginia Kirkus, is based in New York City and is known for its annual Kirkus Prize honoring outstanding fiction, nonfiction, and young readers' literature. The magazine publishes reviews on the first and 15th of each month, offering previews of books prior to their publication. Kirkus Reviews reviews an impressive number of over 10,000 titles per year and has a traditional review program that does not require payment for reviews. Additionally, Kirkus Reviews has an Indie program that allows authors to purchase reviews, but without the ability to modify or influence them. Authors can choose whether or not to publish these purchased reviews on the Kirkus website, and if published, they may also be featured in the magazine or email newsletter at the discretion of Kirkus editors.
